Apple has released iOS 27.2 RC (Release Candidate) for developers and beta testers. The update brings new features and interface changes to the iPhone, including expanded Siri AI language support, Apple TV profiles, and changes to App Tracking Transparency in the European Union.
The release candidate arrived on October 19, following several rounds of beta testing. It is a near-final version of the update, which means Apple is now preparing for the public rollout. The redesigned Health app tested in earlier betas, however, is missing from this release.
What’s New in iOS 27.2?
Siri AI adds support for five languages
Apple is expanding Siri AI language support to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. This will make its upgraded AI assistant available to more users. The exact availability of individual features may still depend on the device and region.
Apple TV adds profiles
The Apple TV app on iPhone and iPad now supports profiles. Users can switch between accounts and keep their viewing preferences separate. Parents can also apply age-based restrictions for children.
Apple Music gets a visual refresh
Apple Music receives a redesigned black-and-white app icon. The update also introduces blue highlights in parts of the interface, replacing some of the familiar red accents.
Call Context adds anniversary alerts
The Call Context feature gains anniversary alerts to help users remember important dates associated with their contacts.
App Tracking Transparency changes in the EU
Apple is updating its App Tracking Transparency system for users in the European Union. The changes include an expanded tracking permission prompt and the option for apps to request permission again annually. The alternative prompt applies to users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
Redesigned Health App Is Missing
The redesigned Health app tested during earlier beta releases has not made it into iOS 27.2 RC. The planned redesign includes new Insights and Longevity tabs, along with a Health Age feature.
Apple is expected to introduce these changes in a future update, but it has not confirmed a release date. Users waiting for the redesigned Health app will have to wait longer.
How to Download iOS 27.2 RC
Registered developers and eligible beta testers can check for the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update on their iPhone. They may need to enable the appropriate beta update option to see the release candidate.
As this is a near-final build, most of its features are expected to remain unchanged in the public release. However, Apple could release another build if it finds issues during final testing.
