Apple has introduced HomeView, a new smart home display that combines a screen, speaker, AI assistant, and smart home controls in one device. It is designed to help users manage their connected home, make video calls, listen to music, and access personal information without picking up their phone.

HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and is powered by Apple’s A18 chip. It supports Siri AI, face recognition, and personalised home screens for different family members. Apple is also offering tabletop and wall-mounted versions. It allows users to place it on a desk or install it on a wall.

One of the most notable features of HomeView is its ability to recognise different family members. It can recognise up to six people and show a personalised Home Screen for each person. This can include personal information and content, so family members get a different experience when they use the device. Apple says personal content appears only when it recognises an enrolled user and their paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and has been unlocked recently.

HomeView also brings Siri AI to the smart home display. Users can ask questions, have more natural conversations, and get answers using information from the web. When paired with a compatible Apple device, Siri can also use personal context to provide more relevant responses. Users can continue supported conversations across Apple devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro.

The display also works as a control centre for compatible smart home devices. Users can control lights, thermostats, locks, blinds, and automations from the screen or through Siri. It can also show feeds from up to nine compatible home cameras at once. With supported cameras and an iCloud+ subscription, HomeView can identify familiar faces, pets, packages, and vehicles, and provide summaries of recorded activity.

Users can make FaceTime calls with Center Stage, send messages, and use Intercom to communicate with other rooms. It can also display recipe instructions and run hands-free timers, making it useful in the kitchen.

Apple HomeView has a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone support. Its brightness can reach 500 nits and go as low as 0.3 nits. The interface can also adjust based on how far away the user is standing which makes information easier to view from different distances.

The tabletop version has an adjustable hinge, while the wall-mounted model is designed for installation on a wall. The standard model comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray.

HomeView features two full-range drivers in the display, along with a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators in the base. Apple says computational audio helps improve the listening experience. Users can play music and podcasts, watch content on Apple TV, and access supported third-party audio and video apps. They can also bring a compatible iPhone close to the display to hand off audio playback.

Apple says HomeView is designed with privacy in mind. Its A18 chip uses Secure Exclaves to isolate camera and microphone data. Siri processes requests on the device when possible or uses Private Cloud Compute for tasks that need more processing power. Apple says it does not store or access personal data processed through Private Cloud Compute.

Apple HomeView will compete with Amazon’s Echo Show smart displays, which also combine a screen, speaker, voice assistant, and smart home controls. The main difference is the ecosystem. HomeView uses Siri AI and integrates with Apple devices, while Echo Show relies on Alexa and works with compatible smart home products across different brands.

Both product lines support entertainment, video calling, and smart home controls. However, HomeView puts particular emphasis on personalised screens for family members through face recognition and integration with Apple’s services. Its price is also considerably higher than that of some Echo Show models, which could make Amazon’s devices a more affordable option for users who do not need Apple’s ecosystem.

Pricing and Availability

In India, Apple HomeView starts at ₹39,900 for both the tabletop and wall-mounted versions. Pre-orders are open, and the device will be available from November 13.

Apple will also offer compatible Schneider Home mounting accessories. These include a USB-C wall connector priced at ₹6,900, an AC wired mount priced at ₹8,900, and a PoE wired mount priced at ₹14,900. These accessories are expected to arrive in early 2027.
