Capcom is bringing the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 to Nintendo Switch 2. The three games will launch digitally through the Nintendo eShop on October 16. Physical editions will follow on January 29, 2027.
This will be the first time Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are available as native releases on Nintendo hardware. Both games were previously released on the original Nintendo Switch through cloud streaming.
Resident Evil 2 was originally released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in January 2019. It later arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, followed by the cloud version for Nintendo Switch in November 2022. The remake is also available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Resident Evil 3 launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in April 2020 before coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch through cloud streaming. It was also released for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Resident Evil 4 is the newest game in the lineup. The remake launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PC in March 2023. It later came to iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Capcom has not yet revealed the resolution, frame rate, or other technical details for the Switch 2 versions. The new releases should also offer a more suitable experience than the cloud versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on the original Switch, since they are being released for Switch 2 hardware.
The digital versions of all three games will be available on October 16, with physical editions arriving in January 2027. Capcom has also released a new trailer for the Switch 2 releases.
