Xiaomi has launched the new Redmi Note 17 Pro series in India. The lineup includes the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and the new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which is the first Pro Max model in the Redmi Note series.
Both phones focus heavily on durability and battery life. They also come with large 1.5K OLED displays, high-resolution cameras, IP69K protection, and long-term software support.
The two phones use Redmi’s Titan Structure, which includes reinforced mid-frames and high-strength motherboards. They also have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The phones also carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. Xiaomi says they can survive a 2-meter water submersion for up to 72 hours.
Xiaomi says both phones have received TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification and SGS-certified drop resistance of up to 3 meters on granite surfaces.
Both models also come with Wet Touch Technology 2.0 and an Underwater Mode.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports up to 3,200 nits peak brightness, 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It also supports up to 3,200Hz instantaneous touch sampling for improved touch response.
The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 4nm chipset with an Adreno GPU. It comes with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and is available with 128GB or 256GB storage.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max gets the more powerful Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 4nm platform with an Adreno 812 GPU. It comes with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB storage.
The Pro uses UFS 2.2 storage on the 128GB model and UFS 3.1 on the 256GB model, while the Pro Max gets faster UFS 4.1 storage.
Both phones run Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3. Xiaomi is also promising six years of security updates for the Pro series. The company says the Pro Max will maintain a like-new smoothness experience for six years. These phones also include Google’s Gemini AI. They also support Circle to Search, along with AI-based editing tools such as AI Glare Removal and AI Erase Pro.
Battery life is one of the biggest highlights of the new series. The Redmi Note 17 Pro packs a 9,000mAh battery with support for 67W HyperCharge. It also supports 22.5W reverse charging. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max goes further with a 10,000mAh battery and 100W HyperCharge. It also supports 22.5W reverse charging.
Both phones have a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The Pro has an f/1.8 aperture on the main camera and supports video recording up to 1080p. The Pro Max gets a wider f/1.5 aperture and can record video in up to 4K resolution.
For selfies, the Redmi Note 17 Pro has a 16-megapixel front camera with 1080p video recording. The Pro Max gets a 32-megapixel front camera with support for 4K video recording.
Both phones also include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an infrared sensor, NFC and USB Type-C connectivity. The Pro Max also features a 400% audio volume boost.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro supports Bluetooth 5.1, while the Pro Max gets Bluetooth 6.0. Both support 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5 and dual-SIM connectivity.
Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max price in India
The Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at Rs. 36,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant. The 8GB + 256GB version costs Rs. 39,999. It is available in Cloud Blue with a photochromic finish, Purple Vibe and Stealth Black.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max starts at Rs. 49,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model. The 12GB + 256GB version costs Rs. 55,999. It comes in Secret Sunrise with a photochromic finish, Matcha Green and Stealth Black.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro will go on sale from September 17, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will be available from September 23. Both phones will be sold through mi.com, Amazon.in, Xiaomi Retail and offline stores.
Xiaomi is offering several launch benefits with the two phones. Buyers can get an instant bank discount of up to Rs. 3,000 on the Redmi Note 17 Pro and up to Rs. 5,000 on the Pro Max using SBI, Axis, Kotak and IDFC First credit cards.
Alternatively, buyers can get 10% cashback of up to Rs. 3,000 on the Pro and Rs. 5,000 on the Pro Max through HDB Financial Services.
For a limited period, Xiaomi is also offering a free Redmi Note 1 Care Plan worth Rs. 7,499 with the Note 17 Pro and Rs. 9,999 with the Pro Max. The plan includes two years of screen protection, two years of battery replacement and two years of warranty.
