Nintendo is celebrating 40 years of The Legend of Zelda with a special edition of the Nintendo Switch 2. The company has announced the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition, which will launch on October 29.
The special edition is designed as a collector’s product and will come with special packaging featuring textured foil cover art. Nintendo says the special packaging will be available only while supplies last.
This also marks the start of a wider Zelda-themed accessory lineup for the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition will be available from October 29
The anniversary edition celebrates four decades of The Legend of Zelda, one of Nintendo’s most popular game franchises. The company has not indicated that the console will have different hardware from the standard Nintendo Switch 2, so the main attraction here is expected to be its special-edition design and packaging.
Nintendo is also making the special packaging available only while supplies last, It will make this version more interesting for Zelda fans and collectors.
Nintendo is also launching a matching set of accessories on October 29.
The lineup will include the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition. It will be joined by the Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case and Screen Protector – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition.
This means fans can build a complete Zelda-themed Switch 2 setup instead of getting just the special-edition console.
There will also be a more exclusive version of the controller. The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller with Display Stand – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition will be available exclusively at Nintendo Store, Nintendo New York and Nintendo San Francisco.
