Infinix has launched the HOT 70 Pro 5G in India. The new smartphone comes with a 144Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset, a 6,000mAh battery and an IP68 rating. It also has a unique rear lighting system that sets it apart from most phones in this price range.
The HOT 70 Pro 5G is aimed at buyers looking for a fast display, 5G connectivity and useful hardware extras without moving into a higher price segment.
The HOT 70 Pro 5G has a 6.76-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 2344 x 1080 pixels. The screen supports a 144Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Infinix lists 760 nits of typical brightness, with the high brightness mode reaching up to 910 nits. Since this is an LCD panel, it does not offer the contrast and deep blacks associated with AMOLED displays, but the 144Hz refresh rate should make scrolling and animations look smoother.
The phone measures 166.85 x 79.54 x 7.85mm and weighs 204 grams. It is available in Silk Glow Purple, Dive Blue, Thermo Orange and Mirage Green.
The more unusual part of the design is the Active Matrix Cube, or AMC, on the back. It uses lighting effects for incoming calls and messages, charging status, countdowns and gaming. It can also display ambient lighting animations.
The phone has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. This is a useful addition at this price, especially for users who want some extra protection from accidental water exposure.
The Infinix HOT 70 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100. It is a 6nm octa-core chipset with a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz and Mali-G610 graphics.
The phone comes with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There is also a dedicated microSD card slot, although the detailed specifications describe the SIM setup as hybrid dual SIM. This means storage expansion can depend on the SIM configuration.
The Dimensity 7100 should be capable of handling regular apps, social media, streaming and everyday multitasking. The 144Hz display also gives the phone a suitable setup for users who care about smooth scrolling and gaming.
The main camera on the back uses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor with an f/1.79 aperture. It is paired with an LED flash. The camera supports up to 2K video recording at 30fps. Infinix is also offering 2x in-sensor lossless zoom, along with AI photo editing features and a one-tap Vlog Mode. There is an 8-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture. It can also record 2K video at 30fps.
The 50-megapixel Sony sensor is probably the more interesting part of the camera setup on paper. Still, sensor specifications do not tell us the complete story. Image processing, HDR performance and low-light results will determine how good the camera actually is.
The Infinix HOT 70 Pro 5G runs Android 16 with XOS 16. Infinix has promised three major Android OS updates and five years of security updates. This gives the phone a reasonably long software support period for its price category.
The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and an IR sensor. It also supports NFC, 5G SA/NSA with 20 5G bands, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4. The device uses a USB Type-C port for charging and connectivity.
For audio, the phone has a bottom-mounted speaker with Dolby Atmos support. There are also dual microphones.
The HOT 70 Pro 5G packs a 6,000mAh battery. It supports 45W wired fast charging. The phone also supports 10W wired reverse charging, which allows it to provide power to other compatible devices. There is also a bypass charging feature, which can be useful during gaming as it can reduce the phone’s reliance on the battery when connected to a charger.
A 6,000mAh battery is larger than what many phones in this segment offer. Combined with the 6nm chipset and LCD display, the phone should have enough battery capacity for a full day of regular use. Actual endurance will depend on network usage, screen brightness and workload.
Infinix HOT 70 Pro 5G price in India and availability
The Infinix HOT 70 Pro 5G is priced at Rs. 24,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The 8GB + 128GB model costs Rs. 27,999. The phone will be available through Flipkart and the Infinix India online store from September 7.
As part of the launch offer, buyers can get a flat Rs. 2,000 discount with Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI credit cards. There is also a Rs. 2,000 exchange discount option.
