Rockstar Games has announced a major part of Grand Theft Auto VI that fans will be able to experience even before the game launches. The company has partnered with Atlantic Records for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a 34-track collection of brand-new original songs.
The album will be released on November 19 alongside Grand Theft Auto VI. However, Rockstar has already released the first six singles, giving fans an early look at the music that will be part of the game’s world. The album is also available for pre-save on major music streaming services.
The first batch features some major names from different parts of the music industry. The six songs are “That’s It” by Yung Lean featuring Future and Metro Boomin, “RHYNO” by Travis Scott produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, “Sexy Magic” by CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy, “Last Thing You Need” by Morgan Wallen, “Macacoa 2000” by Rauw Alejandro, and “Bright Lights, Big City” by Keith Richards.
Rockstar says the 34 original tracks are designed around the world of Vice City and Leonida. That makes the album more than a collection of licensed songs for the game. The company is positioning it as an official music release tied directly to GTA VI.
There is another interesting detail in the announcement. Rockstar says more information about GTA VI’s music is coming, including a “next evolution of in-game radio.” The company has not explained what that means yet, but it suggests that the radio experience will be an important part of the game’s music system.
The album will also get physical releases. Rockstar will sell CD and vinyl editions, including a limited-edition liquid-filled vinyl and a splatter-edition vinyl through its official store. Other retailers will also offer exclusive vinyl colourways with different artwork.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until then, Rockstar is giving fans something else to explore from the game, its music, one track at a time.
