Microsoft has announced the second wave of games coming to Xbox Game Pass in August, and there are some notable titles in the lineup. The biggest addition is Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, which will join the service on August 27 as a day-one release.
At the same time, Game Pass subscribers will need to say goodbye to several popular games. The biggest loss is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is scheduled to leave the service on August 31 along with four other games. NBA 2K26 will also leave the service a few days later.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is the latest game from Asobo Studio and serves as a prequel to the A Plague Tale series. Unlike the earlier games, it introduces a new protagonist and uses a story that moves between two timelines. The game is also expected to have more action compared with the previous titles.
The biggest advantage for Game Pass subscribers is that Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be available on the service on launch day. Subscribers will be able to play it without buying the game separately.
Here is the complete list of games joining Xbox Game Pass in this wave:
| Game | Platforms | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Egging On | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, PC | August 18 |
| Vapor World: Over the Mind (Game Preview) | Cloud, Console, PC | August 19 |
| BlazBlue Entropy Effect X | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC | August 19 |
| Relooted | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC | August 19 |
| Starsand Island | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC | August 20 |
| Aerial_Knight’s DropShot | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, PC | August 25 |
| Blood Dungeon | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC | August 25 |
| Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, PC | August 27 |
| Young Suns | Cloud, Console, PC | August 31 |
| Shelldiver | Cloud, Console, PC | September 1 |
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is clearly the main attraction in this lineup, but the release schedule also gives subscribers several smaller games to try across PC, console, cloud and supported handheld devices.
While Microsoft is adding new games, several titles are also leaving the service. The biggest departure is The Witcher 3, one of CD Projekt Red’s most popular games. It will leave Xbox Game Pass on August 31. Subscribers who have not finished the game yet will need to complete it before then or purchase it separately to continue playing.
The other games leaving on August 31 are Another Crab’s Treasure, I Am Your Beast, Neon Abyss, and One Lonely Outpost.
NBA 2K26 will remain available for a little longer and is scheduled to leave Game Pass on September 6.
This means Game Pass subscribers have only a limited amount of time to play these games before they are removed from the service.
Microsoft has now completed its major Game Pass announcement for August. The next batch of games should be announced in a couple of weeks as part of the September lineup.
