vivo has launched the Y31t 5G in India as its latest smartphone in the Y series. The new model focuses on durability and battery life, with a 7,200mAh battery, 44W fast charging and IP68 and IP69 ratings. It also comes with a 120Hz display and Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset.
The smartphone features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1608 x 720 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 1,250 nits of brightness in HBM mode.
The large display should be useful for watching videos, browsing and gaming. However, the HD+ resolution is a noticeable compromise at this price. A Full HD+ panel would have offered sharper text and images, especially on a screen this large.
The vivo Y31t 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. It is built on a 4nm process and has a 2.2GHz dual-core setup along with six efficiency cores clocked at up to 2GHz. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 613 GPU.
The phone is available with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage starts at 128GB and goes up to 256GB, using UFS 3.1 storage. A microSD card is also supported.
This hardware should be enough for everyday tasks and casual gaming. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is not designed for heavy gaming, but its 4nm architecture should help balance performance and battery efficiency.
The phone runs Android 16 with vivo’s OriginOS 6. The software includes features such as AI Creation, Origin Island, Drag & Go, Private Space and vivo DocMaster.
The Y31t 5G has a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture. It is paired with a 2-megapixel portrait camera and an LED flash. An 8-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls. The camera app supports Night, Portrait, Pro and Document modes. It also offers 50MP high-resolution capture and underwater photography features.
The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and weighs 219 grams. It measures 166.64 x 78.43 x 8.39mm.
The phone supports 5G connectivity with several Indian 5G bands, along with dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou. It uses a USB Type-C port.
It packs a 7,200mAh battery with support for 44W FlashCharge. vivo says the charging system can adjust power input based on factors such as usage and operating conditions.
The phone also gets IP68 and IP69 ratings. This provides protection against dust and water, including high-pressure and high-temperature water jets under the IEC 60529 standard. he Y31t 5G carries SGS Gold Label Five-Star Drop Resistance certification and military-grade durability certification. It also includes moisture detection and a One-Tap Water & Dust Ejection feature.
