Pixel Buds Pro 2 Gets Olive Color, New Features Coming to Pixel Buds 2a and Pro 2

Pixel Buds Pro 2

Google is adding new features to its Pixel Buds lineup instead of introducing a new pair of earbuds. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 is also getting a new Olive color option.

The upcoming software update adds dynamic Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) adjustments to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, expands Gemini voice controls, and adds new integration with the Pixel Watch for sleep detection. Some of these features will also be available on the Pixel Buds 2a.

The new Olive color for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is available to order starting August 12. The software updates are expected to begin rolling out in September.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 can now automatically adjust ANC when the fit of an earbud changes.

The seal can shift slightly as you walk, exercise or move your head. This can affect how well ANC works. The new system detects these changes and adjusts the noise cancellation to maintain a more consistent experience.

Google is also giving Gemini more control over the earbuds. Users can use voice commands to change supported settings without opening the Pixel Buds app. For example, you can ask Gemini to increase the bass or make other supported equalizer adjustments.

This makes the earbuds easier to control when you do not want to reach for your phone.

The Pixel Buds are also getting a useful Pixel Watch integration.

When the Pixel Watch detects that you have fallen asleep, it can automatically pause audio playing through the earbuds. It can also disable touch controls to prevent accidental taps and mute incoming notifications.

The feature is a good example of Google’s devices working together. The watch detects the user’s state and the earbuds respond automatically, without requiring any manual action.
