Nvidia GeForce NOW is finally getting official support for Firefox. After years of waiting, Firefox users can now use Nvidia’s cloud gaming service directly from the browser without having to switch to Chrome, Edge or another supported browser.
Nvidia says the support comes after months of collaboration between its engineers and the Firefox team. With this update, Firefox joins Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera GX and Safari as officially supported browsers for GeForce NOW.
This is a useful update for Firefox users because GeForce NOW is designed to work directly through a browser, allowing users to stream supported games without installing the full PC version of the game. Before this update, trying to launch GeForce NOW through Firefox could result in an error.
Users running the latest version of Firefox can now visit the official GeForce NOW website, sign in with their account and start streaming games.
Nvidia says GeForce NOW currently supports more than 2,000 games. Since the games are streamed from Nvidia’s servers, users do not need a powerful gaming PC to run them locally. The main requirement is a stable internet connection.

The Firefox support also gives Nvidia another way to reach users across different devices. GeForce NOW already supports PCs, smartphones, TVs and other compatible devices, so adding another major browser makes the service easier to access.
Andrew Fear, Director of NVIDIA GeForce NOW, said Firefox met the company’s requirements for delivering the experience it expects from supported browsers. Firefox’s Head of Firefox, Ajit Varma, also described the partnership as an important milestone for the browser and cloud gaming communities.
The timing is also interesting because Nvidia recently expanded GeForce NOW support to Linux with a native app. That update arrived just a week before the Firefox announcement, showing that Nvidia is continuing to expand the number of platforms that can officially run its cloud gaming service.
Nvidia has also hinted that there is more to come. The company is expected to share additional GeForce NOW announcements at Gamescom, so Firefox support may not be the last major platform update we see from the service this month.
For Firefox users who have been waiting to use GeForce NOW without workarounds, the wait is finally over. The latest version of Firefox is all you need to get started.
