Lava has launched the Virat V1 Pro 5G in India as a new budget 5G smartphone. The phone is part of the company’s Virat series and focuses on battery life, clean software and a large 120Hz display.
The Lava Virat V1 Pro 5G features a 6.74-inch HD+ LCD display with a 1612 × 720 pixel resolution. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations. The display can reach up to 550 nits in High Brightness Mode. While this is not an especially high brightness level for the current smartphone market, it should be sufficient for regular indoor use and most outdoor situations.
The phone has a glossy finish and comes in Sikkim Midnight and Spiti Frost colors. It also has an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes. It measures 168.29 × 77.64 × 8.68mm and weighs 207 grams.
The Virat V1 Pro 5G is powered by the 6nm Unisoc T8200 chipset. It is an octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
Lava claims the phone scores more than 500,000 points on AnTuTu. The device comes with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Storage can be expanded by up to 1TB using a microSD card.
The phone has a 50MP primary rear camera with AI features and an LED flash. The camera app includes Night Mode, HDR, Portrait, Film and Pro modes. It also supports Motion Photo and dual-view video recording. Video recording is supported at up to 2K resolution at 30fps. For selfies and video calls, the phone has an 8MP front camera.
The Lava Virat V1 Pro 5G runs Android 16 out of the box. Lava says the phone comes with a bloatware-free software experience. The company has promised one major Android version upgrade and two years of security updates.
The phone also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and AI-assisted face unlock for biometric security.
The smartphone supports dual 5G SIM connectivity with both 5G SA and NSA support. It also supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and GPS with GLONASS. The phone has a hybrid SIM slot that can accommodate either two Nano SIM cards or one Nano SIM and a microSD card.
The phone packs a 6,000mAh battery. It supports 18W fast charging through a USB Type-C port. The large battery is one of the main highlights of the Virat V1 Pro 5G. The 18W charging support, however, is relatively modest for a phone in this price range.
Lava Virat V1 Pro 5G price and availability in India
The Lava Virat V1 Pro 5G is priced at ₹15,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. As part of the launch offer, buyers can get it for ₹13,999 with a ₹2,000 instant discount on credit card and credit card EMI transactions from major banks.
The smartphone will be available online through Flipkart from August 31 at 12 PM. Lava will also bring the phone to offline retail stores in September under the Shark 2 Pro 5G name.
