Epic Games Store has two free offers available this week for PC players. Cardpocalypse Standard Edition and the Epic Mage Bundle for Albion Online can both be claimed at no cost until August 27.
Both offers are available through the Epic Games Store’s weekly giveaway program. Once Cardpocalypse is claimed, it is added to your Epic Games library and remains yours to keep. Epic’s free game program normally refreshes every Thursday.
Cardpocalypse is a single-player RPG built around collectible card battles. It takes place in a school where a popular card game has been banned, but students continue playing it in secret.
You play as Jess, a 10-year-old student who gets caught up in the situation. The game combines exploration, quests and deck building with card battles. Players can collect and trade cards, modify them with stickers and even change some of the rules.
The battles also have a roguelike element through the game’s Gauntlet Mode, where each run can introduce different cards, rules and rewards. The game has received a “Very Positive” rating from Steam users, making it a more interesting giveaway than a completely unknown indie title.
Cardpocalypse Standard Edition normally costs $24.99 on the Epic Games Store, but Epic is currently offering it for free.
The second offer is different. The Epic Mage Bundle is not a standalone game. It is a free content bundle for Albion Online. The bundle includes in-game content such as cosmetics and other items for players of the free-to-play MMORPG. You therefore need Albion Online to make use of the offer.
This makes the two giveaways useful for different types of players. Cardpocalypse is a complete game that can be added to your library, while the Albion Online offer is aimed at existing or potential players of the MMO.
Both offers are available until August 27 at 8:30 PM IST, based on the offer timing shown on the Epic Games Store.
Epic’s weekly giveaways are worth checking even if you do not plan to play the games immediately. The company lets users claim the free games and keep them in their library, so you can always install them later.
