Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will launch for the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11. The remastered RPG is already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, where it received a strong response from both critics and players.
The physical edition of the Switch 2 version will include the game on the cartridge, and pre-orders are now live through select retailers.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was first released on April 22, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The game quickly became one of the biggest launches of 2026, attracting millions of players within days of release. It also topped sales charts across multiple platforms and received positive reviews for modernizing the classic RPG while staying faithful to the original experience.
Critics praised the remastered visuals, improved character models, updated combat animations, and quality-of-life improvements. Many also appreciated that the game preserved the original gameplay and story while making it more accessible for modern hardware.
According to TechloMedia Gaming data, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered continues to maintain an active player base months after its launch. At the time of writing, the game has 785 concurrent players on Steam, with a 24-hour peak of 1,764 players and a 30-day peak of 2,549 players. While these numbers are significantly lower than its all-time Steam peak of 216,784 players recorded on April 25, 2025, they indicate that the game still has a dedicated community. On Twitch, the game currently has six live viewers across four channels. Since launch, it has accumulated over 14,500 hours watched, with a peak of 462,615 concurrent viewers on April 22, 2025, highlighting the strong interest the remaster generated during its release.
The Switch 2 version brings the same complete experience to Nintendo’s latest console. Players will get the base game along with the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles story expansions. It also includes previously released downloadable content such as Fighter’s Stronghold, Wizard’s Tower, Mehrune’s Razor, Vile Lair, The Thieves Den, Orrery, Spell Tome Treasures, and the Horse Armor Pack.
Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition will also receive exclusive Mehrunes Dagon and Akatosh armor and weapon sets, along with a digital artbook and soundtrack.
