Samsung has officially unveiled its first Intelligent Eyewear at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London. The new smart glasses are powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform and integrate Google’s Gemini AI to offer hands-free assistance throughout the day.
The company developed the intelligent eyewear in collaboration with popular eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. With this launch, Samsung is expanding the Galaxy ecosystem beyond smartphones and smartwatches into AI-powered wearable devices.
Samsung says the Intelligent Eyewear is designed to be lightweight, comfortable, and durable enough for everyday wear.
The company worked closely with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create different frame styles, colors, and lens options. The Gentle Monster version features a slim black frame with softly rounded edges, while the Warby Parker edition comes with a brown frame and a slightly raised brow design.
Samsung also refined the fit around the forehead and ears to make the glasses comfortable for long hours of use.
Samsung’s Intelligent Eyewear comes with Google’s Gemini AI integration.
Users can interact with the AI using voice commands, touch controls, and gestures without taking out their smartphone.
The smart glasses can:
- Summarize long messages and read important information aloud.
- Translate conversations in real time.
- Capture what users are looking at using the built-in camera.
- Save whiteboards, meeting notes, and other visual information for later.
- Help with navigation by providing directions and location-based assistance.
- Share the user’s point of view during video calls or record hands-free videos.
- Understand context and provide more relevant assistance across different tasks.
Samsung says the device includes privacy and security safeguards while delivering AI-powered features.
The Intelligent Eyewear is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform, which is designed specifically for smart glasses. The chipset handles AI processing, touch controls, wireless connectivity, and power management while maintaining a lightweight design.
The built-in battery offers up to nine hours of use on a single charge. Samsung also includes a charging case that can provide up to seven additional full charges.
