Paytm has launched a new Split Bills feature that makes it easier to manage shared expenses. Introduced ahead of Friendship Day, the feature allows users to record, divide, and settle group expenses for trips, dining, shopping, entertainment, and more.
It also supports expenses paid through Paytm UPI, other UPI apps, cards, and cash.
Users can create a group and add unlimited expenses without any additional charges. Bills can be divided equally, by a fixed amount, by shares, or by percentage, depending on the group’s preference.
The app provides a summary of all shared expenses, including the total amount spent, each member’s share, pending balances, recent activity, and the amount each person needs to pay or receive.
Users can send payment reminders directly from the app and settle balances through Paytm UPI. The payment amount and recipient details are filled in automatically to make the process quicker.
Expenses paid using cash, cards, or other UPI apps can also be recorded. If someone has already paid outside the app, users can simply mark the payment as settled to keep the expense history updated.
How to use Split Bills
To access the feature:
- Open the Paytm app.
- Go to the Pay Anyone section.
- Tap Split Bills.
- Create a new group or select an existing one.
- Add participants, choose a group category, enter the expense, select who paid, and decide how the amount should be split.
The app will automatically calculate each person’s share and show any outstanding balances.
