Nothing Ear (3a) Announced With LDAC, Adaptive ANC, and Built-in Call Recording

Nothing Ear (3a)

Alongside the launch of the Nothing Phone (4b), Nothing has announced the Nothing Ear (3a) true wireless earbuds. The new earbuds bring several upgrades over the previous generation, including improved active noise cancellation, built-in call recording, LDAC support, and AI-powered features.

The Nothing Ear (3a) comes with a redesigned, rounded shape for a more comfortable fit. It includes four ear tip sizes, including a new XS option for users with smaller ears. The earbuds also feature an IP54 rating, which makes them resistant to dust, sweat, and light rain.

The charging case has also been redesigned and now includes a 1×3 status light that shows battery level, charging status, pairing, firmware updates, factory reset, and error notifications.

The Nothing Ear (3a) is equipped with a 12mm dynamic driver, which the company says delivers up to 5dB more bass than the previous Ear (a). It also supports LDAC, AAC, and SBC audio codecs, along with Hi-Res Wireless Audio certification. The earbuds also support Static Spatial Audio for a more immersive listening experience.

For noise cancellation, the Ear (3a) offers Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation with up to 45dB noise reduction. Nothing says the new system also provides up to 6dB better suppression of human voice frequencies compared to the previous model. The earbuds automatically adjust the level of noise cancellation based on the surrounding environment and also include a Transparency Mode for hearing nearby sounds when needed.

One of the biggest highlights of the Nothing Ear (3a) is its built-in call recording feature. Users can start recording a phone call directly from the earbuds using a pinch gesture. Recordings are stored on the earbuds and later synced with the Nothing X app, where they can be replayed, edited, converted into transcripts, summarized, or played back at different speeds. The earbuds also notify other participants when call recording starts.

The Ear (3a) also introduces Audio Snapshot, a feature that can capture up to one minute of audio, including up to 30 seconds before activation. Users can replay recordings, generate transcripts, edit them, and even create shareable quote cards from the Nothing X app.

The earbuds support Bluetooth 6.0, dual-device connectivity, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair.

The Nothing X app offers several customization options, including four EQ presets, an 8-band equalizer, QR code sharing for sound profiles, ChatGPT integration, and an AI-powered daily news audio summary.

For voice calls, the earbuds use three microphones on each earbud with AI-based noise reduction to improve voice clarity during calls.

The Nothing Ear (3a) offers up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge with ANC turned off and up to 6 hours with ANC enabled. With the charging case, the total battery life increases to 42 hours with ANC disabled and 25 hours with ANC enabled. The earbuds support USB Type-C charging, and a 5-minute quick charge provides up to one hour of music playback.

Nothing Ear (3a) Price and Availability

The Nothing Ear (3a) is priced at USD 99 (approximately Rs. 9,390). The earbuds are available in Pink, Yellow, Black, and White colour options and will go on sale starting July 7 through Nothing’s official website.
