Motorola has announced the new Motorola Edge (2026) smartphone for the North American market. The phone succeeds last year’s Motorola Edge and brings several upgrades, including a brighter display, improved durability, AI-powered camera features, and Android 16 out of the box.
One of the first things users will notice is the new design. Motorola says the phone features an ultrathin and lightweight body, making it easy to carry and use with one hand. The company is also introducing a new PANTONE Martini Olive colour option with a textured finish on the back.
Despite its slim design, Motorola has focused heavily on durability. The Motorola Edge (2026) comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It also carries MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification and uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front.
The smartphone features a 6.3-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. Motorola claims the display can reach up to 5200 nits peak brightness. The company also says the panel offers 13% higher pixel density than a standard Full HD display.
The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7450 processor built on a 4nm process. It is paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of storage.
The device runs Android 16 and gives users the option to choose between Moto AI, Google Gemini, or Perplexity as their preferred AI assistant.
Motorola has also upgraded the camera system. The phone features a 50MP primary camera based on the Sony LYTIA 710 sensor with Optical Image Stabilization. It is accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide camera that can also capture macro shots and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Motorola says AI-powered Super Zoom can extend zoom capabilities up to 30x.
For selfies, the device gets a 50MP front-facing camera. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording.
The company is also introducing several AI camera features. The Photo Enhancement Engine automatically adjusts colours, brightness, textures, and noise levels. Other features include Action Shot for moving subjects, Adaptive Stabilization for smoother videos, and Frame Match, which helps users frame a shot before stepping into it.
For audio, the smartphone includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Connectivity features include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and USB Type-C.
The Motorola Edge (2026) packs a 5000mAh battery that Motorola claims can deliver up to two days of battery life. The phone supports 60W TurboPower fast charging and 15W wireless charging. According to Motorola, a few minutes of charging can provide enough power for a full day of use.
The Motorola Edge (2026) will go on sale in the United States on June 11 at a price of $599.99 (around Rs. 57,200). It will be available through Motorola, Best Buy, Verizon, and other carrier partners. The device will also launch in Canada on the same day through Motorola’s online store and select wireless carriers.
