Minecraft Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 With Vibrant Visuals Graphics Upgrade

Minecraft Switch 2

Microsoft has officially announced a native version of Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation. The new version will take advantage of the Switch 2’s more powerful hardware and bring the highly anticipated Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade to Nintendo players.

Currently, Nintendo Switch 2 owners can already play Minecraft on the console through backward compatibility. The game runs using the original Nintendo Switch version, which allows players to continue enjoying Minecraft on the newer hardware. However, this version does not fully utilize the Switch 2’s improved capabilities and does not support the new Vibrant Visuals upgrade.

The newly announced native version is designed specifically for Nintendo Switch 2 and is expected to offer better performance, improved optimization, and access to new graphical features.

It promises a Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade. This update was first released earlier this year for Minecraft on PC (Bedrock Edition), Xbox, PlayStation, and mobile devices as part of the Chase the Skies update.

The upgrade significantly improves the game’s visuals with features such as volumetric lighting, directional lighting, volumetric fog, dynamic shadows, water reflections, and enhanced lighting effects on metallic blocks. Players can experience more realistic sun rays and richer environments while exploring and building.

Microsoft has not revealed pricing details for the Nintendo Switch 2 version yet. However, Nintendo confirmed that players who purchase the new version will be able to transfer their save data from the original Nintendo Switch edition.

The new release will also include the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack. This Nintendo-exclusive content pack features a Mario-themed world, character skins, and music tracks inspired by the Super Mario series.
