Microsoft Unveils Limited-Edition Xbox Series X25 Console and Controller to Celebrate 25 Years of Xbox

Limited-Edition Xbox Series X25 Console and Controller

Microsoft used the Xbox Games Showcase to reveal a special edition Xbox console and controller collection celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand. It is called the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition. The new hardware takes inspiration from the rare translucent green version of the original Xbox console.

The limited-edition Xbox Series X25 and its matching controller will launch in November 2026.

The new console features a translucent OG Green design that pays tribute to the original Xbox. According to Microsoft, both the console and controller include subtle references to Xbox’s journey over the past 25 years.

This is the first Xbox Series X model to feature a translucent design. The console comes with 1TB of internal storage and includes a green illuminated Xbox logo on top. Microsoft has also added a special 25th anniversary logo on the front plate. The company says fans will discover a few hidden surprises throughout the console as well.

Alongside the console, Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. The controller also features the iconic translucent green look on both the front and rear panels.

Microsoft says the design includes several callbacks to the original Xbox era. The controller features the classic ABXY button colors and green styling, while the bumpers pay tribute to the black and white buttons found on the original “Duke” controller. The transparent rear shell and battery cover also reveal the classic Xbox logo inside.

Over the years, Microsoft has released several special editions of the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. However, the Xbox Series X25 stands out as one of the most nostalgic designs yet, especially for longtime Xbox fans who remember the early days of the platform.

The Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection, which includes the console and controller, will be available as a limited-edition release in November 2026. Microsoft will also sell the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition separately. Pricing and pre-order details will be announced at a later date.
