Sony and Insomniac Games have released a new extended gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine/ The video offers the best look yet at the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive. The seven-minute video showcases Wolverine’s brutal combat, new story details, and several key characters from the Marvel universe.
The trailer also confirms that pre-orders for the game are now live ahead of its September 15, 2026 launch.
The new footage reveals that Logan is hunting down the Reavers, a cybernetically enhanced mercenary group that has been capturing mutants. The group is working for Bolivar Trask, the billionaire industrialist known in Marvel lore for his anti-mutant agenda.
Players will also team up with Jean Grey, who plays a major role in the story. According to Insomniac, Logan rejoins Team X, a mutant task force fighting to protect mutants who are being hunted and forced into hiding.
The gameplay trailer highlights Wolverine’s fast and aggressive combat style. Players can sneak up on enemies, launch attacks from above, or engage in direct combat using Logan’s iconic adamantium claws.
Insomniac has introduced special combat abilities called Techniques, including moves such as Tornado Spin and Bull Rush. The game also features Critical Strikes, powerful finishing attacks that Wolverine can perform alone or alongside allies like Jean Grey.
Another key gameplay mechanic is Rage. As players attack enemies, parry incoming strikes, and defeat opponents, Wolverine builds Rage that can be used to unleash stronger attacks or activate his Healing Factor.
When Rage reaches its highest level, players can trigger Rage Tier 3, a powerful combat mode inspired by Marvel’s Black, White & Blood comic series.
The trailer also showcased a high-speed motorcycle sequence where Wolverine chases enemies on a highway, destroys vehicles, slashes tires, and fights enemies while jumping between moving vehicles.
Insomniac also confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch with a wide range of accessibility options designed for players with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
