Steam Users Can Play FOUNDRY for Free Until May 11

FOUNDRY

Fans of factory-building and automation games can now try FOUNDRY for free on Steam for a limited time. The game is currently available as part of a free play event that runs until May 11 at 10:30 PM.

Developed by Channel 3 Entertainment and published by Paradox Interactive, FOUNDRY mixes voxel-based building, automation systems, and large-scale factory management in a procedurally generated world.

In the game, players control a robot stranded on an alien planet filled with mountains, jungles, and open plains. Guided by an AI companion named Carl, players slowly build an automated industrial system by mining resources, placing machines, managing conveyor belts, and expanding production chains.

FOUNDRY offers an editable voxel world. Players can reshape terrain and build factories underground, across landscapes, or vertically into the sky. The game also supports co-op multiplayer.

FOUNDRY has drawn comparisons with popular games like Minecraft, Satisfactory, and Factorio because of its mix of exploration and automation-focused gameplay.

The game currently has around 3,600 user reviews on Steam, with 81% of them marked positive. Players have praised the addictive automation mechanics and flexible building system, though some users feel the UI and logistics systems still need improvement.

FOUNDRY launched in Early Access on May 2, 2024, and the developers have not yet shared a release date for the full version.

At the time of writing, the game had 1,676 concurrent players online, with the same number recorded as its 24-hour peak. Its all-time peak player count stands at 8,287, which was reached around 12 months ago.

After the free play period ends on May 11, the game will continue to be available at a 30% discount until May 14. The discounted price brings it down to around $21 from its usual $30 price tag.
