Redmi has started teasing a new smartphone for the Indian market, and this time the focus seems to be on speed and performance. The brand has posted multiple teasers on X, hinting that the company is looking beyond the budget smartphone segment.
The teasers carry taglines such as “Blink and you’ll miss it” and “Speed is no longer a feature, it’s the soul of what’s next.” Redmi has also put up a dedicated landing page for the upcoming phone on its official website, confirming that a launch is getting closer.
With these teasers, Redmi appears to be preparing for a more premium positioning in India. The company has traditionally been known for affordable smartphones, but fans have long been asking for Redmi’s mid-range and flagship devices to launch in the country as well.
While Redmi has not officially confirmed the name of the phone yet, current speculation strongly points towards the Redmi Turbo 5. If that turns out to be true, it could become one of the most powerful Redmi phones to launch in India.
The Redmi Turbo 5 was recently launched in China starting at 1,999 Chinese Yuan, which is roughly Rs 26,000. The phone comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, which is said to be an overclocked version of the Dimensity 8500 chipset. It also packs a massive 7,560mAh battery.
Other specifications include a 6.59-inch flat 1.5K OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, 100W fast charging support, and a 50MP primary camera.
If Redmi manages to price the phone under Rs 40,000 in India, it could become a strong competitor against devices like the Poco X8 Pro and the OnePlus Nord 6.
