Forza Horizon 6 Goes Gold, Preload Live Ahead of Early Access

forza horizon 6

Forza Horizon 6 is now officially ready for release. Developer Microsoft has confirmed that the game has “gone gold,” which means development is complete and it is being prepared for both digital and physical launch.

Along with this milestone, the company has opened preloads for players on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Xbox app. Steam preload will be available soon.

Players who have pre-ordered the game or have an active Xbox Game Pass membership can download the full game in advance. This allows them to jump in immediately when access begins. Early Access starts on May 15 for Premium Edition buyers, while the global release is set for May 19.

The game is quite large. Xbox Series X users need around 135GB of free space, while Series S requires about 130GB. On PC, the game needs 160GB of storage and an SSD.

The game also brings performance options on Xbox consoles. On Xbox Series X, players can choose between a Quality mode with native 4K at 30fps or a Performance mode targeting 60fps with dynamic scaling. On Xbox Series S, Quality mode runs at 1440p 30fps, while Performance mode offers 1080p at 60fps.

The game also rewards long-time fans. Players who have played previous Forza titles will receive special cars as Loyalty Rewards. For example, players of Forza Horizon 5 will get the Mercedes-AMG ONE, while those who played older titles can unlock cars like the Lamborghini Centenario and Dodge Viper GTS.

The game includes features like AutoDrive, Proximity Radar, High Contrast Mode, and full controller remapping. It also supports screen narration, subtitles, and color-blind filters. A future update will even add sign language support for cinematics.

One of the biggest highlights of this announcement is the soundtrack. Forza Horizon games are known for their music, and this time the developers are taking it even further. The game will feature nine radio stations with the largest number of tracks ever seen in a Horizon title.

These include Horizon Pulse, Horizon Bass Arena, Horizon XS, Hospital Records, Sub Pop Records, and more. For the first time, J-pop music will also be part of the Horizon Festival. Alongside that, players can expect a mix of electronic, drum and bass, rock, indie, hip-hop, synthwave, and even modern classical music.

Popular artists featured in the line-up include Calvin Harris, BABYMETAL, Linkin Park, and FISHER. This shows the scale and variety the developers are aiming for.
