Publisher Daybreak Game Company and developer Cold Iron Studios have officially announced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store later this summer.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter set in the popular Aliens universe. The sequel expands on the original game by increasing squad size from three players to four players. Players once again take control of Colonial Marines and fight against deadly Xenomorph threats in dangerous environments.
According to the developers, the game focuses heavily on teamwork, survival, and tactical combat. Players will need to coordinate closely with their squad while using unique class abilities and weapons to survive increasingly difficult enemy encounters.
The sequel has a new four-player co-op system. The developers say the game now offers deeper squad-based mechanics. It allows players to create more strategic team combinations. Each class comes with unique playstyles and tactical abilities that can change how a squad approaches combat.
The game also introduces a new, fully customizable “Specialist” class. This allows players to mix and match abilities from different classes and build loadouts based on their own playstyle. Players can create aggressive combat-focused builds or support-oriented setups depending on the needs of their squad.
Xenomorph enemies are also receiving major improvements. The developers promise a larger variety of enemies along with smarter AI behavior. Players will face overwhelming enemy swarms that attack from shadows, vents, and corridors. The game encourages constant movement and quick decision-making during combat.
Weapons and combat tools have also been expanded. Players can use stun batons for close-range combat along with special ammo types such as pyro and electric rounds to slow down or damage enemies more effectively.
Horde Mode is coming at the launch. It features multiple dedicated maps where squads must survive endless waves of Xenomorphs and other enemies. Rewards improve as players survive longer, making teamwork and coordination even more important.
From the gameplay details shared so far, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 appears similar to cooperative shooters like Left 4 Dead 2, Back 4 Blood, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, but with the signature sci-fi horror atmosphere of the Aliens franchise. Fans can expect intense squad-based action, large enemy swarms, tense survival moments, and heavy focus on cooperative gameplay.
