Motorola has confirmed that a new Razr smartphone will be unveiled on April 29. The announcement came through its official account on X, along with a teaser video hinting at the upcoming device.
While Motorola has not clearly named the phone yet, strong leaks and recent certifications point towards the launch of the Motorola Razr 70 series, which includes the Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra.
The launch timing is not surprising. Motorola introduced the Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra around the same period last year. Now, with the new generation arriving in late April, the company appears to be sticking to its yearly refresh cycle for its clamshell foldables.
The teaser and leaks also suggest that Motorola will focus on refining the design instead of changing it completely.
Based on multiple leaks, the standard Razr 70 is expected to look very similar to its predecessor. Most of the design and hardware will likely remain unchanged.
However, it is expected to replace the 13MP ultrawide sensor from the previous model with a 50MP telephoto camera. This could improve zoom performance, which is usually a weak area in foldable phones.
The Razr 70 Ultra is also expected to follow a similar strategy of small upgrades rather than a major redesign. Leaks suggest the biggest change will be a slightly larger battery, moving up to around 4,700mAh. Some reports even mention figures close to 5,000mAh depending on the final variant.
Motorola is expected to reveal full details on April 29, so more clarity should arrive very soon.
