Apple has introduced the new MacBook Pro powered by the latest M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The new models come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. The company is focusing heavily on performance and on-device AI with this update.
The new chips promise a strong jump in speed. Apple says the MacBook Pro now delivers up to four times faster AI performance compared to the previous generation, and up to eight times faster AI performance compared to M1-based models. This improvement is aimed at developers, researchers, creative professionals, and business users who work with large models, heavy graphics, and complex data.
The M5 Pro and M5 Max are built using Apple’s updated Fusion Architecture. The chips combine two dies into a single system-on-chip design. This setup improves CPU, GPU, and memory performance.
Both chips feature a new CPU with up to 18 cores. Apple claims it includes the fastest CPU core available in a laptop. The GPU also gets a major upgrade. Each GPU core now includes a Neural Accelerator, which boosts AI and machine learning tasks directly on the device.
The M5 Pro supports up to 64GB of unified memory with up to 307GB/s memory bandwidth. The M5 Max supports up to 128GB of unified memory with up to 614GB/s bandwidth. This helps in AI model training, 3D rendering, and high-resolution video editing.
According to Apple, users can see:
- Up to 7.8x faster AI image generation compared to M1 Pro models
- Up to 6.9x faster LLM prompt processing compared to M1 Pro
- Up to 5.4x faster video effects rendering compared to M1 Max models
These gains are especially useful for professionals working with apps like LM Studio, DaVinci Resolve, and other AI-based creative tools.
The laptop features a Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 1600 nits peak HDR brightness and up to 1000 nits brightness for SDR content. A nano texture option is also available.
The new MacBook Pro offers up to two times faster SSD read and write speeds. Storage speeds can reach up to 14.5GB/s. This helps in handling large 4K and 8K video projects and heavy datasets.
Apple has also increased the base storage. The M5 Pro model now starts with 1TB of storage. The M5 Max model starts with 2TB.
The MacBook Pro with M5 chips delivers up to 24 hours of battery life. Apple says performance remains consistent whether the device is plugged in or running on battery.
Connectivity options include Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI with support for up to 8K resolution, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe 3 charging. The device also supports Wi Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 using Apple’s new N1 wireless chip.
The MacBook Pro comes with a 12MP Center Stage camera, studio-quality microphones, and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio support.
The new MacBook Pro runs on macOS Tahoe. The update improves Spotlight search and adds more intelligent features to Shortcuts.
Apple Intelligence features are integrated across the system. Users can run advanced language models directly on the device. Live Translation is available in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone apps, helping users communicate across languages.
Apple says the new MacBook Pro is built with 45 percent recycled content. The enclosure uses 100 percent recycled aluminum. The battery includes 100 percent recycled cobalt. Packaging is fully fiber-based and recyclable.
Customers can pre-order the new MacBook Pro starting March 4. Sales begin on March 11. The device is available in space black and silver.
14-inch MacBook Pro (2026)
- M5 chip: Rs. 2,49,900

Customers can pay an additional Rs. 20,000 to get the 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU variant. The 48GB RAM option will be available at a Rs. 40,000 premium, in addition to Rs. 40,000 for the 2TB storage option.
16-inch MacBook Pro (2026)
- M5 Pro: Rs. 2,99,900
- M5 Max: Rs. 4,29,900
The configuration with 64GB of RAM costs an additional Rs. 60,000, while customers can pay a Rs. 1,00,000 premium for the 4TB storage option. The top-of-the-line M5 Max processor MacBook Pro (2026) model with an 18-core CPU and 40-core GPU costs an additional Rs. 50,000.
