Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia has revealed a new version of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition that will be sold only in Japan. This special model supports only the Japanese language and will be available from November 21, with pre-orders starting on November 13.
The new PS5 Digital Edition will cost 55,000 yen. In comparison, the regular all-language version of the PS5 in Japan is priced at 72,980 yen. That means the Japan-only model is 17,980 yen cheaper. Interestingly, it is also just 5,020 yen more expensive than the Japanese-language version of Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2.
However, this cheaper price comes with a few restrictions. The console can only be used with PlayStation Network accounts registered in Japan, and users cannot change the system language. It will remain Japanese.
Sony has also released new commercials to promote this Japan-only PS5 Digital Edition, highlighting its price advantage and local appeal.
