The journey of Halo Infinite is coming to an end. Developer Halo Studios has confirmed that the upcoming Operation: Infinite will be the last major content update for the game. This marks the end of new additions for a title once planned to be the long-term future of the Halo series.

The final update, Operation: Infinite, will release on November 18. It brings a free 100-tier Operation Pass and a premium 100-tier Pass with new armor sets, weapon skins, and customization options.

Players will also earn Career Rank and Spartan Points twice as fast, making progress quicker than before. The update adds new community-made maps, including the festive Yuletide for the fun Husky Raid mode and Vacancy for Ranked matches.

Halo Studios says that while this is the last big update, the game will still be supported. Daily and weekly challenges will continue to rotate next year, and Ranked playlists will keep changing from time to time.

When Halo Infinite was first revealed, it was meant to be the start of a new era for Halo. But things did not go as planned. The game’s 2020 gameplay reveal was criticized for weak graphics, and the “Craig the Brute” meme became famous for all the wrong reasons.

The game was delayed by a year and finally launched in late 2021, missing the Xbox Series X|S console release window. It started without popular features like campaign co-op and Forge mode, which were added much later.

Over time, Halo Infinite improved with updates and new content. The gameplay was praised, but its slow updates and live-service model could not keep players hooked. Now, less than four years after release, new development is ending.

Halo Studios is now focusing on new projects. The team is switching to Unreal Engine 5 and working on a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, which will launch on PS5 and Xbox in 2026.
