Google Play Names the Best Apps and Games of 2025

Google Play has revealed its Best Apps of 2025, highlighting tools that are smart, useful, and built for real-life needs. This year’s picks focus on artificial intelligence, simple design, and apps that make everyday life easier.

Globally, Focus Friend by Hank Green won the Best App award. The app helps users focus by turning concentration into a game. Longer focus sessions earn rewards for your virtual ‘Bean Friend,’ which you can use to decorate its room. Google praised the app for being helpful, fun, and wellness-focused.

Other winners include Luminar: Photo Editor as Best Multi-device App and Disney Speedstorm as Best Multi-device Game. Both apps show how tools and games can work smoothly across mobile, tablet, and PC.

In India, the Best App went to District: Movies Events Dining, owned by Zomato. The app uses AI to suggest restaurants, movies, and local events, combining all “going-out” features into one place. Google highlighted its local focus and culturally relevant design as a reason it stood out.

AI is a major theme in this year’s awards. 69% of Indian users’ first experience with AI was through an Android app. Apps like District and InVideo’s AI video generator show how AI is becoming part of daily life.

The awards also show the growing strength of Indian developers. Google said the Android ecosystem supports over 3.5 million jobs in India and contributes more than ₹4 trillion to the economy.
