The Golden Joystick Awards 2025 took place on November 20 in London. This event is one of the biggest fan-voted gaming award shows in the world, often called the People’s Gaming Awards. Players cast over 21 million votes this year, making it one of the most competitive editions yet.

As expected, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 dominated the night. The game won seven major awards, including Ultimate Game of the Year, Best Storytelling, and Best Soundtrack. Its studio, Sandfall Interactive, also won Studio of the Year.

A few categories were not fan-voted. Donkey Kong Bananza won Critics’ Choice, Schedule 1 earned the Breakthrough Award, and PEAK took home the Streamers’ Choice award.

This year’s show highlighted the industry’s strong creative momentum. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 became the biggest winner of the night with multiple awards across storytelling, visuals, music, and performance. It is rare to see a single game sweep so many categories, and it clearly resonated with players.

Indie games also had a strong presence. Blue Prince and Hollow Knight: Silksong both walked away with major wins. It shows how important independent studios have become in shaping modern gaming.

The award for Most Wanted Game went to Grand Theft Auto VI, which is easily one of the most anticipated releases of the decade.
