new experimental Search app for Windows

Google has announced a new experimental Search app for Windows through its Labs program. The app is designed to make searching faster and more convenient, without the need to switch between windows.

With a simple shortcut, Alt + Space, users can instantly search for information. The app lets you look through your computer files, installed apps, Google Drive, and of course, the web. This makes it useful whether you are writing in a document, browsing, or even playing a game.

The app also comes with Google Lens built in. This means you can select anything on your screen and search it right away. In AI Mode, users can get deeper, AI-powered answers and even ask follow-up questions for more context.

Vinay Mahagaokar, Group Product Manager at Google Search, explained the idea simply:
“Now you can search without switching windows or interrupting your flow. Whether you’re writing in a doc or in the middle of a game, just press Alt + Space to instantly search.”
