Insomniac Games has been keeping things quiet since the 2023 data breach that revealed several of its upcoming Marvel projects. Among them, Marvel’s Wolverine has been one of the most anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusives. Now, new reports suggest the game is still on track for its 2026 release, which gives fans hope after years of silence.

Insomniac first announced Marvel’s Wolverine in 2021 with a short cinematic trailer. Since then, updates have been scarce. Following the 2023 hack, leaked documents pointed to an autumn 2026 launch. Some fans feared the project had been pushed back, but new rumors indicate the release window remains unchanged.

The studio itself has stayed tight-lipped, only sharing a statement back in 2023: “Like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in early production. While we appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm, we will share official information about Marvel’s Wolverine when the time is right.”

If all goes according to plan, Wolverine will headline Sony’s 2026 first-party lineup and become one of the biggest PlayStation 5 exclusives of the year.

Alongside Wolverine, insiders suggest that Insomniac is also working on a Venom spin-off. This project is rumored to feature Eddie Brock as the main character, with Carnage stepping in as the central villain.

The Venom game may also incorporate ideas originally planned as story DLC for Spider-Man 2, before Insomniac confirmed it would not release any DLC for the sequel. While internal leaks once suggested a 2025 release, fans should not expect to play it before 2027 at the earliest.

Another rumor hints that Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’Hara) might appear in a future Insomniac project. It is unclear whether he will show up in the Venom game or in a potential Spider-Man 3, but his inclusion would bring even more variety to Insomniac’s Marvel universe.

For now, Wolverine remains the highlight of Insomniac’s upcoming lineup. Meanwhile, a Venom spin-off and possible Spider-Man 2099 cameo add even more excitement to the studio’s long-term plans.
