Google is expanding its AI tools to Google Drive on Android and iOS. This means users can now interact with their files and folders using AI to ask questions and get conversational responses.
On mobile, Gemini offers several useful capabilities:
- Summarize files and folders: You can get a quick overview of a file, a folder, or even information across multiple files.
- Retrieve quick facts: Gemini can find information about a project or topic without needing to read through every document.
- Ask questions about folders: You can query folders to get answers directly from their content.
- Find files or folders: Gemini helps locate specific documents or folders quickly.
- Summarize images: You can ask questions or get summaries about images stored in Drive.
These features make it easier to navigate and understand your Drive content. You no longer need to scroll through dozens of files to find information. Now Gemini will do it for you.
Gemini is integrated into several parts of the Drive mobile app. You can access it at the top-right corner of the app to ask questions about folders, in the document viewer, and overflow menus. When you use Gemini, a bottom sheet slides up where you can type your prompts and browse responses.
Gemini in Google Drive is available to several Workspace tiers:
- Business Standard and Plus
- Enterprise Standard and Plus
- Google AI Pro for Education
It is also available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. The rollout is happening gradually over the coming weeks.
