Amazon introduces Kindle Colorsoft and Updated Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite & Kindle Scribe

New Kindle devices

Amazon has introduced its first color Kindle called Kindle Colorsoft. The company has also introduced new Kindle (11th Generation), Kindle Paperwhite (12th Generation), and Kindle Scribe (2024) models. Amazon has also discontinued Kindle Oasis, the last kindle with a physical page-turn button.

Kindle Colorsoft

Kindle Colorsoft features a 7-inch 150 ppi color display with Colorsoft display technology. It has a built-in light and offers 300 ppi B&W and 150 ppi color. Amazon says that Kindle Colorsoft uses custom-formulated coatings between the display layers to enhance the color. The light guide with with micro-deflectors is used to minimize stray light and an ultra-thin coating in the display stack to improve optical performance. The oxide backplane in the display offers sharper contrast, faster page turns, and better image quality.

Users can highlight text in Yellow, Orange, Blue, and Pink. Later, search for highlights by color. The device has 32GB storage.

Kindle Colorsoft carries IPX8 waterproof ratings. It promises up to 8 weeks of battery life and supports USB-C wired charging and wireless charging.

Kindle (11th Generation)

Amazon has also upgraded entry-level Kindle. The 11th generation Kindle has the same 6-inch 300 ppi, glare-free display. However the front light is brighter at up to 94 nits na defers faster page turns. The device comes with 16GB of storage and promises up to 6 weeks of battery life.

Kindle Paperwhite (12th Generation)

The new Kindle Paperwhite (12th Generation) has a larger 7-inch glare-free 300 PPI display. It is also the thinnest Kindle Paperwhite ever. It promies 25% faster page turns. The device comes with 16 GB of storage. There’s also a Signature Edition with 32 GB storage in Metallic Black, Metallic Jade, and Metallic Raspberry colours.

It promises up to 12 weeks or 3 months of battery life with optional wireless charging.

Kindle Scribe (2024)

The new Kindle Scribe (2024) has a similar 10.2″ glare-free 300 ppi screen as in the predecessor. But the bezels are now white and same across all sides. It has a smooth, paper-like texture to give you feel like you are writing on a sheet of paper.

The Premium Pen offers the right heft and balance to give you a feel like you are holding an actual pen.
