Google has shared some good news: they’re making Privacy Sandbox available to most Chrome users. This is all about making the internet more private for you while still letting you access the stuff you want.
They started working on Privacy Sandbox back in 2019 to make the web safer for everyone. They’ve been working with lots of different people, like websites, app makers, and you, to come up with better ways to protect your privacy online.
One cool thing they’re doing is giving you more control over the ads you see. You can pick what kinds of ads you like and even control how they measure stuff by going to Settings > Privacy and security > Ad privacy controls in Chrome.
Google is also getting ready to say goodbye to “third-party cookies” by 2024. These are like little trackers that follow you around the web. They’ve made sure their Privacy Sandbox tools work well for everyone, and companies can start using them to get ready for this change.
Starting late in 2023, they’ll let people test what happens when they get rid of these third-party cookies. And in early 2024, they’ll turn them off for a small group of Chrome users to see how well the Privacy Sandbox tools are working.
Google wants to make sure everyone gets a chance to use these tools, but they’ll start with a small group first to see how things go. So, if you’re using Chrome, keep an eye out for these changes over the next few months. They want to make the web a better and safer place for you!
