Leica has launched its first smartphone ‘Leitz Phone 1’ for the Japanese market. This phone seems to be the same as the Sharp Aquos R6 but with a slightly different design on the back. The phone comes with its own Leica-branded lens cap.
Leitz Phone 1 features a 6.6-inch IGZO OLED display with 2,730 x 1,260-pixel resolution and an adaptive 240Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 888 mobile platform with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Storage is also expandable up to 1 TB via a microSD card.
The phone runs on Android 11 out of the box with Leica’s own custom interface on top. Leitz Phone 1 features an IP68-rated construction. It weighs around 212g and is 9.5mm thick.
There is a 20 megapixels rear camera with an f/1.9 aperture and 19mm equivalent focal length. The camera module is circular and gets a dedicated Leica-branded lens cap. This is a massive 1-inch camera sensor. It has 12.6-megapixel selfie camera.
Connectivity options include 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and Type-C. There’s also an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display. It packs a 5000 mAh battery.
Leitz Phone 1 will be on sale in Japan sometime in July. It is priced at JPY 187,920 (roughly Rs. 1,25,800).
