Multiplayer survival game Rust will be released on PS4 and Xbox One On May 21. Developer Double Eleven, who is porting the game from PC, confirmed the console release date.
The developer has confirmed that PC and console versions are difference and Console Edition will also get regular updates with new content. Rust Console Edition will also support cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One. However, console and PC players won’t be able to play together.
The company notes that early PS4 and Xbox One have CPUs equivalent to a 2013 MacBook Pro. So, it wasn’t easy to run the game on console. During the first console test, it took 45 minutes to load the game’s huge map. After several efforts, the developers managed to reduce the load time down to around a minute. Now they are ready with a console version.
Rust was launched in Steam Early Access back in 2013 and now claims 8 million total players. The multiplayer component makes the game interesting and up to 100 players can be on the same server.
The console version of Rust is now available for pre-order. The standard version costs $50 that includes pre-order bonus pack with weapons and tools. The deluxe edition costs $70 and includes access and entry to the closed beta, and some other goodies. There is also an ultimate edition priced at $80 and it includes all the perks from the other versions along with special skin pack and 1100 Rust Coins.
