Lenovo Phab 2 Pro with 6.4-inch 2K Display and 4GB RAM is First Project Tango Phone

At its tech event in San Francisco, Lenovo announced the first project tango based consumer phone Lenovo Phab 2 Pro. As the name suggests, this is phablet with large display. It is the third phone in phab series.

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro features a 6.4-inch QHD 2.5D curved glass display. It is powered by octa-core Snapdagon 652 processor with Adreno 510 GPU and 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM. It is packed with 64 GB internal storage. It runs on Android 6 marshmallow out of the box.

This phone comes with a three-mic setup for noise cancellation. It also has Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 and Dolby Atmos for good audio experience.

It has a 16 megapixels rear camera with PDAF. On the front side, it has 8-megapixels camera for better selfie. Thanks to Project Tango, it also has depth sensor and motion tracking sensor to help in indoor navigation and 3D mapping. It can recognize places where it has been before. It also able to map physical spaces and can also project virtual effects in a real world space.

Lenovo has also demonstrated the technology with variety of apps including VR-style shooting game, education app and few others. Lenovo promised to bring about 25 apps ranging from games to location-based apps when the phone will be available in market.

It is packed with 4050 mAh battery with support to fast charging.

Lenovo PHAB 2 Pro specifications

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro smartphone will be available in September for $499 unlocked. At this price, it seems to be a good deal to experience the Project Tango. It will be available online in August and in stores in September.
