2015 was Apple’s most profitable year ever; 30% iPhone buyers were Android switchers [Update]

Yesterday, Apple announced financial results for its fiscal 2015 fourth quarter ended September 26, 2015. In this, Apple reported high growth and profit. It reported quarterly revenue of $51.5 billion and quarterly net profit of $11.1 billion.

If we count for the whole year, 2015 was the most profitable year for the company. In this year, it recorded the $53.4 billion in profit and $233.7 billion in revenue. International sale accounted for 62 percent of revenue.

“Fiscal 2015 was Apple’s most successful year ever, with revenue growing 28% to nearly $234 billion. This continued success is the result of our commitment to making the best, most innovative products on earth, and it’s a testament to the tremendous execution by our teams,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We are heading into the holidays with our strongest product lineup yet, including iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple Watch with an expanded lineup of cases and bands, the new iPad Pro and the all-new Apple TV which begins shipping this week.”

This was due to high demand of its iPhone. Around 30% iPhone buyers were those who were dumping Android to buy the iPhone. Apple sold 48 million iPhones, 9.9 million iPads and 5.7 million Macs in Q4 2015. Apple is also expecting this kind of demand for its products in upcoming holiday and shopping seasons.

Update: 30% was not for the all iPhone buyers. Actually it was among those who switched from some other platform.

Apple also confirmed the guidance for the first quarter of fiscal 2016. These include expected revenue of $75.5 to 77.5 billion and gross margin between 39 and 40 percent. With this speed of growth, it will be able to easily meet these.

Apple also released an Android app to help Android users while switching to iOS device. Although, this app faced much criticism in Play store, it actually helped Apple in attracting more Android users.

Newly launched iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S are too much costly for Indian consumers, so it couldn’t get expected response. But users are still buying older iPhone models. Iphone 6 was in demand during the festive season sales by various online retailers. Users are even interested in buying iPhone 5S in India.

Love it or hate it, Apple is still growing more than the expectation of most of us.
