WhatsApp To Add Voice Calls in Q2 2014, Crosses 465 Million users

At MWC 2014, WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum revealed a that company is planning to introduce voice calls in the second quarter of 2014. He also confirmed that WhatsApp had crossed 465 million monthly active users globally. In these users, 330 million users are daily active. According to Medianama reports, WhatsApp also claims to have 40 million active users in India alone.

He also said that WhatsApp’s acquisition by Facebook would not affect the company’s strategy. Company is soon going to cross 1 billion users. WhatsApp also confirmed that no advertising will be added to the service and it will work as it used to be.

WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook for $19 billion few days back. Since then company has added almost 15 million users. WhatsApp is popular because of its simplicity. Users can easily use WhatsApp as they use SMS feature of the mobile. Users have almost stopped using tradition SMS feature.

Voice calls on messaging app is already available in BBM, SKype, Line, Kakao Talk and few other apps.
