When you book a ticket from the IRCTC website, it sends a SMS to your phone number contaning your ticket details like PNR, train number, date of journey. Now the SMS would also have details like name and number of passengers, coach and seat number and fare paid. This SMS will also contain the name of the all the passengers booked the e-ticket, otherwise maximum number of passengers.
Few days back, Railways has decided to treat the screen shot of the e-ticket displayed through laptops, palmtops or mobile phones on par with the physical printed tickets. Now its time to use SMS as ticket. This seems a good move to make ticket booking user friendly.
