Google launches Google+, an answer to Facebook

Today Google has launched its big project for testing named as Google+. Google+ is a social networking website in which people can grow their connection network. But Google says that it is not a social network. It is something bigger than that.

Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google says,”Today, the connections between people increasingly happen online. Yet the subtlety and substance of real-world interactions are lost in the rigidness of our online tools.” “We think connecting with other people is a basic human need. We do it all the time in real life, but our online tools are rigid. They force us into buckets — or into being completely public,” he continues. “Real life sharing is nuanced and rich. It has been hard to get that into software,” is the last thing he says before diving into a demo of Google+.

Google+ has 3 core components.
+circles : manage all of your contacts, be them friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances and so on.
+sparks : is all about sharing and interests.
+hangouts : a group video chat app, Hangouts

With the concept of circles, Google+ is ready to take on Facebook. We cannot say how the social network will fight will Facebook because no more details are available. But it will be interesting to see how Google will attract users. Google already has many users using Google account for various Google services. Those users can easily use Google+ with same Google account.
