Honor 9 Lite first impressions

Honor 9 Lite

Honor has surprised us with its new smartphone Honor 9 Lite that starts at just Rs. 10999. The phone comes with Quad-camera and other good hardware specs. With the attractive build and good specs, this phone aims to compete with XIaomi that has captured this price segment for long. I was present during the launch and got a chance to experience the phone for a short while. Here are our Honor 9 Lite first impressions.

The first makes an impressive first impression with its compact body and reflective glass back and attractive color. It is also lightweight with 149g of weight. As I said multiple times, the downside of glass back is that it attracts a lot of fingerprints and becomes slippery. So, you need to give an extra attention. But this really looks great.

As the phone has 18:9 display, the front side has narrow bezels. Above the display, it has dual camera setup and proximity sensor. The right side has a volume rocker and power button. The base side has a speaker, micro USB, and headphone jack. SIM card slot can be found on the left. The backside has dual camera setup, LED flash and fingerprint sensor.

The phone has a 5.65-inch display with FHD+ resolution offering a pixel density of 428ppi. The display looks sharp and offers good color reproduction. It also has the good amount of brightness that makes it good even for outdoors.

The phone packs Kirin 659 octa-core SoC and comes in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB RAM and storage combinations. So, you need to decide what is your requirement. The performance of this phone looks to be fine. The good thing is that it comes with Android Oreo out of the box with EMUI 8.0. The new UI claims faster performance and smoother experience. I also faced the same, but most of the new phones perform well. So, it will be notable to see if it manages to offer the same experience even after few months.

The phone has dual camera setup on both front and rear side. It has 13 megapixels rear camera with 2 megapixels secondary depth camera at the back. The rear camera also has PDAF. It also got the 13 megapixels front camera with 2 megapixels secondary camera. This camera setup performs really well and becomes one of the best camera phones of this price segment.

It offers 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, MicroUSB and GPS connectivity. It packs 3000 mAh battery. While the company claims a full day usage, I have a doubt because it has an FHD+ display and people will generally use its camera a lot. So, the battery will surely drain faster. As I didn’t use this phone for the longer time, I cannot claim anything about battery performance. I am just guessing based on my experience. The phone also got improved battery saving tech that claims a lot. It will be interesting to see how it works.

Overall, I find this phone an interesting device at this price. I will try to get it on the first day to review. So, stay tuned and subscribe our channel for more articles and videos. Let us know your views about this phone in the comments.
