Instagram is now close to reaching 1 billion users mark. Now the Facebook-owned photo and video sharing service has hit the 800 million monthly active users milestone. It also has over 500 million daily active users.

It announced 700 million monthly active users back in April this year. With the same pace, the company could hot the billion mark in next 10-11 months.

The company also said that video consumption is growing and it is up over 80 percent year over year. Users are also producing four times videos a per day as they were last year.

Instagram also claims to have 2 million advertisers contributing well on Facebook’s revenue. Most of the growth comes from SMBs.

In past few months, Instagram added lots of features to keep this platform interesting and safe. Today, the company also announced a new way of choosing who can see your comments on your public posts. It already had filters to block offensive comments.

With new features and improved algorithms, Instagram has managed to keep the platform interesting. It also copied lots of features from Snapchat and got success in attracting new users who were using Snapchat actively.
