The Women and Child Development ministry has launched an online platform that makes it easy to report Sexual Harassment Complaints. The women employees of the central government can use this portal to file complaints related to sexual harassment at the workplace.

The WCD Ministry thought to have this online place after it received several complaints from women employees in various ministries. The ministry is also looking to make this platform as interactive as possible.

“We are also going to soon conduct a national survey to assess the nature and magnitude of sexual harassment at the workplace,” Union Minister Maneka Gandhi said after launching the portal, “To begin with, central government women employees can file complaints, but we are going to widen the ambit to include the private sector as well.”

Once a complaint is submitted to the ‘SHe-Box’, this platform will send the complaint to internal complaints committee (ICC) of the company responsible for taking the action. The ICC will take action as prescribed under the Act. Once the action has been taken, the status will be updated.

The platform will have a list of follow-up details. So, the person filing the complaint will see the exact status of her complaint.

The platform is still in developments and needs few changes. After it is done, it can also be used by employees from private companies to lodge complaints.
