YotaPhone 3 Officially Confirmed; Will be Coming Later This Year

YotaPhone

Remember the unusual phone Yotaphone? It is the phone with a secondary e-ink display on the back. Now the company has officially confirmed that the third-gen Yotaphone will come later this year. It will be called YotaPhone 3. The model with 64GB storage will cost about $350 and the model with 128GB will cost $450.

The YotaPhone 3 will be released in China in September and it will also be available for pre-orders in Russia during the same timeframe.

We have no confirmation about specifications. So, we can only guess about possible upgrade. Yota Devices is expected to announce more details about the smartphone later this summer.

Engadget reported that the phone will be just a simple upgrade with a larger display and mid-range Snapdragon 625 chipset. YotaPhone 3 is expected to come with 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLD display and a 5.2-inch 720p E Ink touchscreen on the back. It will come with Android Nougat, 4GB of RAM, 12 megapixels rear camera, 13 megapixels front camera, USB Type-C and 3200 mAh battery. It will lack the 3.5 mm audio port.

The specifications on paper look fine, but the phone will come later this year. By that time, we will have an upgraded chipset over Snapdragon 625. So, this phone will be very late in the game like previous YotaPhone models.

It is interesting to note that the company also promised YotaPhone 2C but it never became a reality. It has 2 and a half years since the YotaPhone 2 was officially released. The company also collaborated with China’s ZTE in September 2015 on the YotaPhone 3. This phone was scheduled to come in the first quarter of 2016. But this plan was also dropped. So, I don’t think you should be excited to see this phone until we start getting more leaks of the possible device.

What do you think about YotaPhone 3? Do you think that the phone will become reality? What are you expecting from this phone? Let us know your views in the comments below.
