Instagram introduced two new tools based on Artificial Intelligence for making Instagram a safe place for self-expression. These two tools are a filter to block certain offensive comments and a spam filter in nine languages. Instagram believes that using machine learning to build these kinds of tools is an important step in fostering more inclusive and kinder communities.
You have seen in the Instagram or may be faced the toxic and hateful comments on Instagram. Instagram developed a filter based on AI that will block certain offensive comments on both in the posts and in the live video. Now you can report comments, delete comments or turn them off. Also, if you don’t want to use it, you can turn this filter off.
Way to use this tool:
- click the “…” settings menu from the profile
- scroll to tap “Comments”
- There you find the on and off filter for this tool
Presently it is available in English but Instagram will offer it in more languages.
The spam filter based on AI will filter the spam in comments, blocking it from your posts and live videos. This spam filter will remove spam written in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French, German, Russian, Japanese and Chinese.

These two filters are based on Artificial Intelligence and will improve over the time. This Instagram’s AI system was specifically trained to fight with the spam and offensive comments.
