Apple updates iMac Line with better screens, USB-C, and VR support

Apple has announced updates to its existing iMac line. Now the iMac desktops are more powerful with latest Intel chipsets.

Apple has brought the new 7th generation Kaby Lake processors to the new iMac. The display has been improved to offer 500 nits of brightness. It makes it 43 percent brighter than the previous generation. Apple calls it “the best Mac display ever,”

The entry-level 21.5-inch model will have an Intel Iris Plus 640 GPU. The 4K variant of 21.5-inch models will get Radeon Pro 555 and 560 graphics cards. The 27-inch 5K model will have a choice of Radeon Pro 570, 575, and 580 graphics cards along with 8GB of VRAM.

With macOS High Sierra update, new iMacs will support VR. The 21.5-inch model will be available with up to 32 GB of RAM and 27-inch goes up to 64GB. The new iMacs have two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports.

The 21.5-inch iMac will start at $1099 and the 4K 21.5-inch model will start at $1299. The iMac Retina 5K 27-inch starts at $1799.
