Microsoft to ditch 2-in-1 design in Surface Book 2

Microsoft is expected to unveil its new Surface Book 2 by the end of this month or in April. The product is already in mass production confirming the launch soon. Sources from the related upstream supply chain have confirmed few key things about the phone.As per the recent rumors, the Surface Book 2 will be cheaper than its predecessor. It will also be like traditional laptop by ditching its 2-in-1 detachable design.

New Surface Book will still have the 13.5-inch display and compact magnesium-aluminum alloy body. The product is expected to be priced around US$1,000. It is because the company the existing Surface Book’s high price level has significantly limited demand.

The company still managed to sell over 500,000 thousands of Surface Books in 2016. But the company thinks that there is a larger market to capture and sticking to 2-in-1 is not only increasing the cost of the product but also conflicting with its Surface Pro product line in terms of product position.

The current Surface Book can either be a tablet or laptop. You can detach the keyboard to make it the tablet and attach the keyboard anytime you want to use it as the laptop. Microsoft has also cut the prices for existing Surface Book products. So, It is clear that the company is working to bring new products soon.
